I have a fiberbuilt golf Mat 7x4 on order, from what i have seen that is roughly 2" tall. I want to put a putting area between the hitting mat and impact screen, something cheap, I found Grizzly Grass at the local lowes and nothing can compete with the price of .50 SF, for what I am looking for I think it will work fine. That is only .25 inches thick though, my thought for my garage is use rigid foam board on the concrete and then foam tiles 3/4" prolly and leave a 1/4" for what I need to match the fiberbuilt. Thoughts on this, is it okay to put the rigid foam board right on the concrete and will this hold up. I've seen a lot of guys talk about Dricore but this would be a cheaper option. Want something that cleans up area between but that can also work for putting. Thanks for the help.

I think either would work, but what I will say is that rigid foam straight on the floor seems to me like a recipe for mold. I used dry-core in the basement and really appreciate the small channels for moisture to wick away and/or dry out if ever it became damp - which I might think might happen easier in a garage. They also go together with a tongue & groove installation that would produce a very nice flat surface. Rigid foam would be taped together most likely - not sure how that would hold up. My two cents.

I was thinking about the same setup, rigid foam with foam tiles and turf on top. I will be setting this up in a newly constructed basement that has a vapor barrier under the slab. Do you think the rigid foam would still be an issue if the slab has a vapor barrier underneath?

The vapor barrier should certainly help I would think. I still prefer drycore for floors.

Here’s a pic, with the slope of the garage I built a square frame and then strung 2x4s across making sure each row was level, I have the dricore panels done roughly up to where my 7x4 mat will go.
