  • Would such a DIY hack work under any heavy hitting mat?

There are quite a few posts about the different mats and pros/cons of each, plus each posters preference based on their experiences. I am presuming most if not all mats are heavy enough, as they all seem to be lined with decent rubber lining underneath the synthetic layer on top. If you build a raised sub floor platform on top of a concrete or other floor, would the following work:

similar to a FB hitting strip that’s inserted around other stance surfaces that you cutout, you cut out a section in your sub floor where your primary hitting zone is. Shave the cutout on all four sides (1/4 to 1/2” each side...?) and fix some sort of dampening mechanism underneath eg springs or something to that effect. You fix this back in the area that’s been cut out. You place the heavy hitting mat on top of this i.e. you are almost creating your own Divot Action with any mat you prefer. You could add gel pad in between too for added measure. Aiming for some sort of shock absorption that’s has just a slight give underneath the hitting mat, but nothing too drastic that your swing is affected adversely.

Wondering if anyone has attempted something like this and what are the things that worked/didn’t work.

Just don’t like the idea of injuries as I get older and not being able to enjoy the sim set up. Hence devoting extra grey matter cycles now (whilst I can!) to such ideas!!
