Best large mat

Anyone have any advice on the most affordable 10 x 12 or so hitting mat?

Depends on your definition of affordable. I use this: 10' x 10' Combo Mat System - Center Hitting (fiberbuiltgolf.com) and am very pleased. Base is very solid, putting/chipping surface rolls true and I am a big fan of the FB hitting surface (injury prevention being my primary focus). Stance area is firm, nothing moves. Hitting area replaceable if it ever wears out. Highly recommended if it is in your price range.

Otherwise, there are many (many) DIY solutions which look like they provide fantastic solutions at much less cost and can be tailored to any custom size. Just need imagination and a few basic DIY skills.
