Insert options for a Country Club Elite Mat

We are searching for the best option to upgrade our hitting mat. The CCE mat is durable and was custom sized for our needs. We find it grabs the club due to the density of the turf and promotes sweeping the ball and harsh on your body. This topic is certainly personal and covered in depth. We have a Uneekor QED ( Very satisfied) with a hitting zone of 18 inches wide by ~3 feet.
Would love to solicit feedback on what others have done; IE Fiberbuilt, softStrike, Divot Action, Quatro etc.. insert or replacement. With all the recently announced options your feedback is appreciated. Particularly feedback from existing CCE users that may have gone the insert route or a full replacement would be helpful.

1. Contemplating new mat versus cutting an insert in to the CCE.
2. How difficult was it to cut the insert? Can you get the insert flush?
3. We would prefer the insert to be 18 inches wide to match the QED hitting zone.

Cutting a CCE mat to insert a hitting strip is a trivial problem. Everything from a utility knife to various types of powered saws have been used.

What may not be trivial is matching the insert height to the CCE mat. For instance the Fiber-built inserts with the metal base are about 3/4 inch or so higher then the CCE mat. In my case I put some plywood under the CCE mat to level the height. Possibly someone else can provide data on the height of your other options.

Thanks, with a limited ceiling height we do not want to raise the CCE mat. Will have to explore insert options with similiar heights/lower or a replacement mat. Hoping to get additional feedback from CCE users who either replaced or added an insert.

JKCapeCod I’m in a similar scenario as I’m planning a sim room with QED and also would love a level situation with 18” wide zone to maximize left/right flexibility. I was thinking interlocking gym mats in entire sim room. Then CCE over those and I could cut out rectangle in CCE to hold Fiber built or whatever winds up working. I want some cheaper putting green like you can get at Home Depot for $4/sq ft around the outsides. So 3 types of mat to line up level....I’d love to hear how others have accomplished this. Also curious about.a slight incline going toward screen so balls come back to you unless that messes up putting....

Ordered the 24" x12" Divot action insert last night. I had a good conversation with Custom Design Golf yesterday and believe this setup will make a big difference in shot accuracy, real world swing mechanics and pain. We used a 2"x4" (nailed one, one on its side) with plywood to create a ramp. This is fantastic, the ball rolls right back to the mat. We are adding a 1/2" padded squares between the CCE mat and ramp to lessen the transition. Will keep you posted on the DA insert performance, we ill run club data before and after.
