FIBER BUILT 4 x 8 - SynLawn Precision Putting Green

Just starting my new build and I have a 20' x 15' piece of SynLawn putting surface. To get the SynLawn surface level with my FB mat I would need to raise up the putting surface by 2". FB surface is 2 3/8" and the SynLawn is 3/8".

Has anyone used the FB without the rubber interconnecting trays? If that is a bad idea, what about cutting the outer rubber lip off the interconnecting trays so that way I can transition from the FB mat to the SynLawn without having 1/2 rubber lip between the two products?

What would you suggest to build up the SynLawn by 2IN?

I also see some leave the mat higher than the putting surface around the mat? Opinions on that?
