3/8” turf laid directly on concrete. Too hard for stance area?

Considering laying 3/8” turf…money putt or putting elite or similar…on my concrete basement slab. Main question is…will it be too hard to stand on for a stance mat? Anyone with experience with this?

It certainly would simplify things for me if I didn’t use an underlayment. But I don’t want to have it done and regret not having a little rubber underlayment beneath the turf.

I will cut in a strike mat that will be placed into a cut out section of my concrete floor to be flush.

In my opinion that is way too thin. It will be like hitting with your feet on hardpan. I guess it depends on your level of footwork while hitting. If you play IRL on rock hard courses then it is probably O.K. If not and you are using your sim to train for real golf it will be a detriment. BTW a decent stance mat is usually at least 1.5 inches or so thick including the soft rubber underlay...

I would not personally play on that. Realism aside, I would be concerned about hurting myself.

I origanly used the same but over the Months I had problems with shoulder & back pain, I got some Ergonomic/ Anti Fatigue Tiles & made up a new mat.
no more issues.

I use those interlocking foam puzzle tiles under my garage sim.

thank you for your input. to be clear- i am not striking the ball off the 3/8" turf. I'll have a proper strike mat sunken in to the floor and flush with the turf.

are you all saying your pain was from standing on turf? thanks.

I did what you are talking about. I have no issues and play 3-4 times a week. Buddies don't have issues either.

golfinToad - thanks for the response. i'd really appreciate the opportunity to message or talk with you a bit more about how this came out.
did you size the concrete space to the exact dimensions of the strike mat? or slightly bigger?
it looks like the strike mat is cut in really tight. did you fold any carpet over the edge and into the recessed area?
any issue with the hard "edge" or "corner break" of the concrete in terms of walking around that area or hitting from there?
