  • Okay, which Fiberbuilt are y'all talking about

I am in the planning/soon-to-pull-the-trigger phase of my home sim which will be DIY (sort of). I had landed on a a 5x10 CCE hitting mat for the hitting area with SimTurf for the rest of the room (raised to be flush with the CCE for as clean of a look as possible).

BUT, nearly every thread on here says that the go-to for hitting mats is FiberBuilt. I've looked at their site and they have 3 different options:
    1. Player Preferred Series which has a hitting strip insert they call "Pure Impact" (the stance mats are their putting turf): https://fiberbuiltgolf.com/pages/pla...eferred-series

    2. FiberBuilt Grass Series which has a hitting strip insert that is called "FiberBuilt Grass" (the stance mats are their performance turf): https://fiberbuiltgolf.com/pages/fib...t-grass-series

    3. Performance Turf Series which has no hitting strip and is the most analogous in terms of look to CCE: https://fiberbuiltgolf.com/pages/202...mance-turf-new

You'll note that each of these 3 options has 3 different hitting surfaces, so my question is, when you guys talk about FiberBuilt being the best, which one are you talking about?

    Thanks!

I would say most are referring to the second surface

Yes, I would agree that most of us who have or are using FB are using the FiberBuilt Grass Series. The Player preferred series was just released earlier this year. I had asked FB if I could source some sort of replacement section compatible with my 10x12 Combo mat. Unfortunately this is not easily possible so I have not personally tried it, but if I were looking for a new mat I think this is the direction I would lean. Super happy with the Grass series and have had zero elbow or wrist issues so it has achieved the aim - but I like the look of the new version and I think it would better represent the fairway conditions.

Likely cannot go wrong with either - I think it depends on your primary or most important consideration - injury prevention or hitting conditions.
