  • Putting and mat questions

Just starting to buy things for my sim room in the garage. My original thought was to just buy some putting green turn off Amazon. I like one clean piece of turf, uniform look. I was looking at a 10x12, which would be just as wide as my screen.

but I think a thin putting mat on concrete won’t be good. So I could put those Home Depot foam tiles underneath it all.

is that good enough? Someone told me I need to buy an actual hitting mat meant for simulators because it’s better for the monitoring deviance to read and register (I have a skytrak).

so if I bought a hitting mat with turf like a fairway, do you put off that? If I buy both, it will be extremely hard to keep it all on a flush even plane. I must say, building a sim room is a lot of fun but soooo much to think about and consider.

I was thinking about building one myself, but I am leaning towards buying something that looks great. I like how everything looks flush and you can change out the hitting area.

I did this in my garage using 1" EVA foam tiles I purchased from Amazon. I then laid down putting turf I purchased from Rymar Grass (in Canada) and cut out a hitting strip 35"x12", which allowed my to inset the hitting strip so it is flush with the putting turf. My hitting strip is the YGT-3D strip. This works great and provides a really nice finished look.

I would like for all the putting turf to be once uniform color. I think my only choice is to go with the holy grail hitting strip and their easy money putting turf. It’s the same exact shade of green
