  • Holy Grail & Stall Mats

Looking at doing a garage setup that can be left in place. Was looking at stall mats for durability. Has anyone recessed a holy grail strip or any other hitting strip for that matter into horse stall mats does the sub layer need to be 1” or would 3/4” work?

    thanks!

to answer your question, I dont' think 1" or 3/4" matters, what matters is that it's even with your stance mat, be that stall mats (3/4") or eva (1").

I was actually in that same predicament.I have a 3 car garage and the 1 car garage side is covered in stall mats as it's my weight lifting area. I was contemplating covering the "sim area" with stall mats as well but went a different route.maybe I'll switch it up later but buying 8 more stall mats is EXPENSIVE. I have the amazon 1" eva foam as my stance mat and to the right of me as my putting area. the 16 and the 4 squares are eva foam covered in turf from menards and the stance mats will be covered in remnant turf from home depot that is 1.5" pile height. I'm hoping that the height difference isn't to bad, and if so, I'll figure it out later on.

everything should be delivered with the next week so i'll get some pictures up here when I can.

Thanks for the reply, was looking to possibly just use the stall mats raw with nothing on top to finish them for now. Cutting out an area for holy grail and either pull it if needed each time or leave it in place.

I think you could def do that. I think i'll eventually move to all stall mats once the eva foam tiles wear thin.

My other thought was to use a wrestling mat similar to this https://bit.ly/3DHU1qh

would think this would be really easy to roll up and store. Could even glue an artificial turf to the top

Stall mats would last quite a bit longer than any other solution imho. I’d just go with that if I could.
