Grizzly Grass or Trafficmaster turf from Home Depot/Lowes?

Filling in the area in front of screen in my garage build with either Grizzly Grass of the Trafficmaster putting turf from Home Depot/Lowes. Will be over 1 inch EVA to match my hitting mat height and will probably drop in 2 putting cups. Anyone have experience with these two?

Seems like the cheaper grizzly grass might even be better for a nice fast roll. Does the trafficmaster roll very well without using infill? Looks like it could be a little bumpy. Thanks!

Grizzly grass is good for the price but I would wait and save for a better product. There are thin spots, it is very light so moves a ton and I have a 12x16’ section. It does hold well using spray foam on the tile but if you switch turf the tiles will be junk.

I was thinking of this as well…would adding a 3/8 rug pad backing to it add enough weight to stabilize it? seems worth a shot for how cheap it is. Was planning to adhere the backing to the grizzly grass. Also if you want to save v the tiles, you could use formular 1” boards since you are not standing directly on them for long periods of time.

On top of 24x24x1in. EVA foam tiles, just lying on top, no glue. It's stable and doesn't move around. It's only 3 cents/sq.ft. more than grizzly grass, and is a much better product, has a backing. It rolls fine, not that it matters once the ball is out of the Skytrak field of view. It doesn't sit quite as high as the CCE and Holy Grail, so I have a cut piece in front for more level putting, but it's probably not necessary. Otherwise the height difference is no bother. And I like the texture and feel walking on it, not spongy, feels solid.

I did a 12x14 room for ~$150.

I used the Trafficmaster with 3/8 carpet padding under. It did the job at first but it has its limits.

-generated a lot off static from normal use
- developed wear spots from over a year of walking on it
- it did shift around on the edges

i ended up upgrading to quality putting turf and couldn’t be happier. Putts are a bit slower but am still considering adding some infill to speed them up. Looks so much better too.

in the end I’m glad I went the cheap route initially…..I ended up tweaking the placement of my hitting mat and made that adjustment when swapping out the grass.
