Carpet for stance mat

Sim room will double as theater room. Looking at turf for stance area and putting area. But everything seems to be plasticy and cheap looking as well as rough to sit on.

So was thinking of regular carpet for stance and putting area on top of Eva mats. And divot action like CCE or holy grail cut into the carpet and Eva mats. Has anyone attempted this?

Or does anyone have a recommendation for turf that is inexpensive and can be used for stance and put and is soft enough for the kids to lay on. Or am I chasing something that doesn't exist?

"chasing something that doesn't exist" - Yes to this. Other than real grass growing on real dirt, I think you're going to be hard pressed to find something that will do well. Find a turf you like and then buy some bean bag chairs or gym mats or something to sit/lay on on top of the turf. Anything soft is going to get torn up if you are hitting golf balls off of it.
