I am looking to build a simulator above my garage and the room is carpeted with plush bedroom type carpet. I was thinking of 1/2" thick eva foam mats and then TFD Nylon 36 putting turf on top with a hitting strip. Is putting this on top of carpet a bad idea?

I suppose the question is how plush and how old right? If it's been around a little bit there are always wear patterns where it's matted down more in some places than others. Adding only the 1/2" foam as opposed to the 1" foam may not create the uniform levelness your hoping for. That being said if you really don't want to you can always try it and see the results, if it's not to your liking it's a relatively easy fix and the only cost is your time and labor.Comment
