  • Landing Turf with 5mm Pad Backing?

Finalizing my garage build and looking for landing turf advice. After lurking here I know that many with garage sims use EVA foam squares and cover them with a turf from a big box store. I just don't think that will work for me. I need a landing turf that can be rolled-up and stored as my garage will not be a full time simulator. I was looking at turf products with a 5mm foam padding attached. I think that such a product would be suitable for golf balls dropping from the impact screen to a concrete garage floor and also allow me to roll-up the turf for storage along the side of the garage. I have my eye on a product from turffactorydirect.com called "TDF Nylon Special Padded (5mm)" at $2.65 a square foot. I have a hitting mat - 5'x5' Wittek Quattro - that I am expecting to place on-top of the padded landing turf. (I'm hoping that it does not slide around when swinging.) I've ordered a Skytrack and don't know how much I'd be putting. Anyone here go the route of turf with attached 5mm pad? How do you like it?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Did you end up buying this? I just saw they increased the price almost .70c a square foot.

That's a big increase. No, I did not buy the 5mm padded turf. In the end I figured that it would prove to be to bulky to roll up and store. I'll be buying non-padded turf.

I have the 5mm padded turf but I did not ever hit on it. It putted very good. I also used it with a skytrak for 4 years. I had it up against a real feel country elite mat. I purchased 4 5x5 and the hitting mat was 4x5. Same as you I was in a my garage on concrete and everything worked really good. Also like you I had to store it away some time to put in a car or what ever else may have been happening. I could stack the 5 squares and lean them in the corner. Also why I used netting for sides so I could pull them back like curtains and out of the way ez.

I have sense relocated to another house and have the sim in the Basement. I went back to the 5mm padded turf hitting area but this time I got two large pieces 6x12.

I purchased both the 5x5 and 6x12 squares off eBay. Shipping was fast and I was very happy with the product.
