  • Adding a Putting Mat to Fiberbult Studio Mat

    Hey folks,

I currently have the Fiberbuilt Studio 9x4 mat which I enjoy. However, having a QED we putt off of the Fiberbuilt mat and it leaves something to be desired since I don't have a level putting surface. Therefore, I have been looking at options to create a surface level to the studio mat so that the putting feels and rolls smoother.

One option is to purchase a Fiberbuilt putting mat to help transform my studio mat into a combo mat. Has anyone tried that? It has been difficult to get clear answers on how smooth the transition between the two mats would be?

    Thanks for any help.

    Good idea Shawnmackenzie

I also enjoy the Fiberbuilt for hitting off, but not sure how well it would do putting off, or over it...

I’m looking to solve the same problem. I’ve priced puzzle mats and grizzly grass for my 12x19 area to make everything level with my FB 7x4 and it’s pretty steep. Would love to hear if anyone has had success solving this a different way

Not to sound too simplistic about it but you have to build material up to the same height as your hitting mat. Obviously you start with your putting mat and go from there. When I was building up to my Fiberbuilt I needed to get to roughly 1.75". My turf is 5/16" so once I added 1" foam tiles like most others on this forum I needed to find something to make up the difference. I ended up using cork flooring underlayment from Home Depot that came in 4' x 50' rolls, worked perfectly. It's a little tricky because you really can't just add the given thicknesses of the separate components, too much cumulative tolerances. You really have to lay it down and see if it's flush, even if it's only small samples. When I putt off my FB to my turf it rolls true with no hopping so really pleased with that.

Sounds great Timmy5under - can you show us some pics of how it turned out, maybe even a video with a true roll off hitting area onto putting? Would like to see that.

How much is that 4'x50' cork roll at Home Depot? I could see that being useful, we're looking at putting it on the porch as well.
