  • horse stall mats for putting strip

I'm in the process of improving my sim setup. I use e6 and the R10 and I want to be able to putt so I was planning on laying down horse stall mats (these - https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...bber-stall-mat ) to be able to add a mini cup and lay the turf on top and either glue or staple it to the mat. Anyone tried anything like this?

Yes. I used the 3/4" horse stall mats from Tractor Supply when I first built my sim using an Optishot 2. The horse stall mats are being 3/4" thick allowed me to cut a recess for the Optishot, with the 4x12 Tall Boy turf mat glued on top of the horse stall mats, the perfect height for the Optishot was achieved. That was in 2019.

Fast forward to 2022 and I upgraded to the Mevo Plus. Since the former hitting mat was glued onto the horse stall mats, and that hole was there for the Optishot, I simply cut that one in half (removing the section that was cut out for the Optishot), These older sections became the stance mats for righty/lefty. Then I added three more stall mats to make a "cross pattern" for my hitting and putting mat being 4x18 feet long. This cross pattern allows righty or lefty to hit without moving the Mevo.

Yes, it is sitting on top of my astroturf mat, and isn't perfectly level across the walking area, but it works well, and those stall mats are HEAVY, so they don't move around. They work well in my opinion.

I found a sharp utility knife, while applying some "bend" to the horse stall mat allowed me to CAREFULLY cut them. I cut the formerly glued sections with the turf down, rubber mat up, bent over the tailgate of my truck. Once I cut through the rubber stall mat, the little cut on the turf backing made a nice little stance mat.

I forgot to mention, when I glued my turf mats to the horse stall mats, I used Lexel clear adhesive silicone that I picked up at my local ACE store. That stuff sticks like crazy and retains a bit of flex. The only mat that I didn't glue down was the 4x12 section I actually hit and putt on, That way I can flip it when I get wear on the turf. The 4x5 stance sections and the 4x6 section where the Mevo sits are all glued down though.

Thanks for the tip on the Lexel - Clear Adhesive. I could use some of that for some odd jobs around my sim shed.

Is this the one you used?
