  • Mat insert

Hey all, I need to replace my mat hitting area, about 1 foot by 2 feet. Any advice on a good supplier? Thanks

The two favourites for protecting against elbow issues seem to be the Holy Grail Hitting Strip from GungHo Golf (only shipping in the US as far as I know) or hitting strips from Fiberbuilt Golf.

You should try the bullseye golf hitting strip very nice to hit off

I use, and highly recommend, the Holy Grail from GungHo Golf. Very realistic, can make it in custom sizes, no joint pain issues. Here's a photo of mine that I've inserted into a chunk of an old CCE mat. Put a piece of Gorilla Grip Rug Mat underneath to keep it from sliding around.

Just bought a holy grail. Doesn't look like i should put a tee insert in it. Do you have tee insert next to the hitting strip in the turf then?

Nope, we use Birtee's. Sits on top of the hitting mat, very durable. A bit spendy but they work very well. Multiple sizes, the yellow is a number 5 which is 1-3/8" tall. The red is a number 6, most commonly used by our group, 1-9/16" tall. Sizes vary by 3/16".

Don't buy any tall white ones, your launch monitor won't like it, thinks there's too many balls on the mat. You can use the lowest one, number 7, in white for Par 3's, the monitor won't squawk about that.

Don't buy multiple sizes in the same color, stick to 1 color for one size, eg all red ones are number 6's, otherwise you'll have a lot of downtime as it takes time to find the right size if they are all the same color.

I have previously used rubber tee holding inserts that sit in the mat with great success. Found some unbreakable tees that stay in a very well. I am thinking i just install one of those in turf durectly next to hitting insert. Already have all of it

Hi, Thanks everyone. Is the insert above the same size as the pro tee insert (12" x 24" I believe)?
