I have an outside area for hitting into a net with a Mevo+ as well as for hitting 75 yards to a DIY backyard bentgrass putting green. My son hits lefty and I am a righty, so we currently have 2 Fiberbuilt mats that we got used from a driving range placed end to end. They work well enough although only one of the hitting strips is really usable now and the stance mats are getting worn. The net we hit into is hung between 2 trees in a shady area where grass doesn't grow well, so the balls can get dirty/muddy easily. I am thinking about replacing the current mats with a single piece of 10x30 turf which we will hit from and will collect the balls after they hit the net as well as giving us a flat place for the Mevo+.
Is there anything affordable, functional, and durable in this size that can be left outside year-round in southern Ohio? I am not sure what my budget is right now, but I don't want to spend a ton on it.
I have seen that I can get a piece of used sports field turf in this size for around $150. Would this work for hitting golf balls? I could also install a hitting strip into the middle of it if that would be better. I would also like to be able to hit some of the 75-85 yard shots to the green from all parts of this turf it as well.
I am just looking for ideas now and would appreciate any suggestions anyone might have.
