  • Best way to secure articifial turf in the yard

So, I stumbled across a crazy deal on some remnant turf locally. Picked up a 5'x6' segment of NP50 putting turf (also known as "Money Putt" AFAIK). And a 3'x15' segment of NP45. Want to put a few hitting stations sprinkled throughout my yard (have enough room to hit around 80 yard shots in some places).

I know I'll need to prep the area (grading, subsurface, etc.). Just trying to figure out the best way to secure the turf. Turf nails? Something else? Would appreciate any insight. Thanks!

Just in case someone else has this same question some day, I figured I'd update. Have installed 2 hitting spots so far. Going to do one more in the coming weeks. Build was pretty straightforward. Would have been easier if I had some heavier equipment to remove the soil. But got by just fine with my Ryobi 18v tiller attachment. Details on the build are as follows...
    1. Marked off the area, and removed about 5" of soil using a tiller attachment for my Ryobi string trimmer.
    2. Added about 2 inches of pea gravel
    3. Installed a weed barrier
    4. Added about 1 inch of a sand/soil mix
    5. Added about 2 inches of leveling sand
    6. Laid the turf on top and secured with turf nails (I bought ones with a washer type head, thinking they'd have better holding power).

Overall, it turned out pretty nice. And my concern about securing the turf was a little overblown. While the 3x3 foot segment did need the turf nails. The larger 5'x6' area didn't need anything. The turf segment is heavy enough that it stays put without any staples/anchors/nails.
