  • Hitting strips with rough

I built my own hitting strip (following a lot of advice on here). I used some of my leftover Money Putt turf. Wondering if anyone has built a strip with a turf that is a little thicker to better replicate an average fairway or even one with lite rough for chipping? Anyone know where I can purchase small quantities of different turfs or recommend what you've used?

Found some stock turf at Home Depot which works quite well if you want something a little thicker than putting grass. Built a new hitting strip to try it out.

I have never been a fan of these kinds of hitting strips. I have tried a few at indoor commercial simulators but even they seem to have given up. Not sure if it is just that it is often challenging to get multiple surfaces in the hitting 'window' of most monitors, that the simulation software has improved enough to simulate reasonable penalties from rough, or something else.

That said, I did a quick search and there are multiple threads on this site (and others) discussing this - this is an interesting one: Mats and simulated rough and how they affect launch monitors - Golf Simulator Forum

      Good luck with your search.
