Insulation board/foam tiles

Hey everyone, has anyone used foam insulation board under gym tiles? I’m looking to build up a mat to potentially drop an sig pro softy in. The rest of the “flooring would be turf. Thanks!

Not sure if what I did is exactly what you're trying to do, but I have used insulation board to build my hitting area, because I need to move it in/out of the garage and needed it to be light. I framed out 3 separate 4x8 sections with 1x1 and dropped insulation board in the gaps. Then I put 1/4" plywood over the top and turf. I then built my own cut in hitting area.

I didn't put foam tiles over it but the board itself works great as a subfloor for my purposes. Edited to add photo of underside/framing with board of a section
