  • New Sim Buildout Questions...

I have a room that's 16'x16' that I am putting a sim into. I am torn b/t putting carpet in and placing a hitting mat over the carpet OR putting in turf and having the hitting mat cut out of the turf. I had a few questions though and was hoping I could get some feedback:

    1) I was told carpet will reduce the noise from hitting, will turf do the same?

    2) Are yall glueing the turf down or using carpet tack strips to keep it down?

    3) I was told most turf comes in rolls of 15'. How are ya'll putting strips together w/o seeing the seam bt the two pieces? I know carpet uses the fusing strip w/ glue...

    4) Can I put more carpet pad towards the screen to produce a slope so the balls will naturally come back towards the hitting mat? Will the turf stretch to allow for that?

Thanks so much in advance for any help!!

Carpet will be less expensive (generally) and avoid most of your questions as issues (gluing, joining seams, etc.). Turf will not (generally) stretch the way carpet does either (and may well tear. If ceiling height is not an issue (carpet + underlay can be an inch or more in some cases) then I would just place the hitting mat over the carpet and be done with it. If you are going for a specific look, carry on!
