So I have seen a lot of posts here regarding DIY hitting mat builds and feel very comfortable following some of those to build my own standing area. The question I have and have not really seen any posts on is DIY hitting strips. I see a lot of people opt for the $299 fiber built strip. Is it truly worth it for long term use/joint and wrist pain. Or is there a DIY option that is just as good long term on joints/wrist. Just was curious to see what everyone has experienced. If you have built a DIY hitting strip with long term success would you mind linking your post or steps for me?

I love DIY and many here have had success - to varying degrees - making their own hitting strip. I personally have not done this and do not (again - personally) recommend it. For me, and right from the start, indoor golf was a worthy expense to satisfy my primary hobby unless, specifically, I was going to injure myself in the process. As such, I started with the FB hitting strip (as part of a combo matt actually) and did not suffer any injuries. For me, the expense was worth it to prevent injuries. You give up some realism in feel.
If you are a 'picker', you can probably get away with just about any matt, and some of the DIY divot action matts built here on the site are truly impressive, but I just wanted something reliable and long lasting. I have tried several other matts and can (and do) recommend the Bullseye Soft Strike matt as well. There are others that many like, but these are the ones I have tried and recommend for the reasons above.

I did a write up quite a while ago. I would go straight to a FB option, but if it's not in the budget yet, then then lexan option is a great choice.
