I will be building a hitting platform with plywood sandwich, 2" styrofoam insert, and thinking of gluing short pile putting type green on to the plywood, and then cut out a section for hitting strips (including an optishot) and possible the 3 turf insert that is sold on amazon.
welcome any thoughts on the above, but my main concern is the turf that I lay down inside the cage. I was going to lay down some rubber exercise mats first to build up a platform, and then top off with a 10*10 Turf....just not sure if I also go for short pile putting type surface, or perhaps a longer pile artificial turf. i don't intend hitting off it, so its more for appearance...but from a functionality perspective, I want the bounce back balls to settle down and not keep bouncing past me (which is a concern if I go for short pile putting type turf) I am hoping that the exercise matt underlay will help...but maybe also the pile length has an impact as well?
if the longer pile will soften the bounce...then I could even insert a putting strip from the tee, just for putting on the sim.
welcome any advice or similar experience..
cheers
