  • Good deal on a mat in the UK

I've noticed there's some good deals on CCE mats on ebay in the US but they won't ship to the UK!.... Can anyone recommend a good mat at a good price in the UK?

I ordered my CCE strip on eBay from the US and used some cheap turf on a foam base to bring the two level. Very happy with the outcome

I did the same. I ordered a large 5' by 5' from the US off ebay at a good price which means you don't need to worry about the foam level as you stand on the 5x5. Bit more expensive but depends what you are looking for etc. The CCE punishes fat hits though! I wanted it to make it as real as possible but I miss some of the generous bounces I used to get from an inferior mat as I do hit a lot of shots fat!

Yeah, I went for the cheaper route, plus it gives me the best of both worlds as I have the cce which I use mostly for wedge practice to stop catching the turf just behind the ball on soft shots and it takes a tee, plus I have the harder turf for tight lie practice. Also, the foam is only about 10ml thick, but it still gives a more realistic feel for stance. Standing on a cce can feel like you're standing in wet marsh lol

Surely there's somewhere in the UK that sells the CCE mats? (I'm after the 5' by 3').... Or an alternative mat that's similar in quality?

I bought Premier Tee Turf 2 from Huxley Golf who are a UK based manufacturer of turf. This is the exact same turf used at Wentworth, Gleneagles and St Andrews on their practice tees. If its good enough for them then its good enough for me. Contact Huxley and they will give you a price and send you a decent sized sample (Almost A4 paper sized). It takes a tee and is divot action, so it will punish fat shots like in real life. Also, you can buy off roll at a size to suit you.

From my research so far... http://www.golfswingsystems.co.uk/pr...ory/golf-mats/ Trustrike looks good!
Or South West Greens, but will have to contact as no specific info on "mats" but they do artificial turf for greens which takes shots.

I ordered a CCE strip from ebay from the US and am very happy with it. I got a shipping number and could track it all the way, it arrived on the exact day it said it would (Royal Mail cant even do that sending a letter 1 mile lol) It came in a very well packed package and was in perfect condition and came with some sample tees and birdie balls as extras that i wasn't expecting and arrived quickly in about 2 weeks i think.

This is the PTT2 from Huxley and then £20 turf from the bargain bin at B&Q to catch balls by the net.

The photo makes it look like the PTT2 has worn. It hasn't, its a trick of the light and pile. like vacuuming a carpet in two directions. The thing is exactly like I got it after 1000+ strikes. The only thing that is different is that where I stand is ever so slightly compressed (i'm pretty big at 17 stone+), but this is a good thing as it was slightly soft to stand on when I first got it. I think it would be back to new if I brushed the pile with a stiff brush though.

          Hi bennyg

Do you mind me asking how much that size PTT2 set you back?

          Thanks

Height wise I'm fine, width wise it'd be on the limit and I choose not to.

The Huxley 350 Mat direct from Huxley website is one I would recommend (1.5m x 1.5m). Feels like hitting off lush fairway, good rubber base which punishes fat shots, but without injuring your wrists. Currently on offer for £195.

6' X 5'. It plenty big enough in both directions to swing on with driver.

No, haven't tried the PTT2, someone recommended the Huxley 300 Range to me and must say I'm very happy with it.

Received the matt today, first impressions are it will be nice to hit off (although I have not yet as no screen) but too much movement of the "grass" under foot, hopefully this will pad down after some use.

Benny how have you found the feel of the Matt to stand on?

After a few hundred shots and a couple of sessions, you'll find the area you're standing in will bed down a little and it will be much firmer. If you had a stiff brush you could make it back to how it was, but it becomes a much better mat in my opinion. I'm a heavier fella (17-18st), so the bedding down may have happened more or quicker than a guy at 12st. Sure you could put some paint cans down in that general area to speed things up. The hitting area is the same as the day I bought the mat. FYI, it will punish on anything that is not a good ball first strike by just sapping the club head speed transfer to the ball. Have found it robs 10-20 yes if not clean. So it's very good in that respect too.

I've been using a fibrebuilt strip which I've been very happy with but now I'm looking to buy something big enough to stand on... my 3 main requirements are as follows....

1 - Mat needs to be forgiving with fat shots (which seems to rule out the CCE)
2 - Would like to be able to roll it up when not in use
3 - Must have a rubber base so it wont move on a hard floor

I don't mind spending a bit but I've found some cheap options on ebay (I'm in the UK) which I'm hoping will do the job.... please see links below:

                - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-FORB-A...QAAOSwPCVX5o8Y
                - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Astroturf-...zgtn1D10d673mQ

Does anyone have any idea why these are so cheap when compared to the CCE, Trustrike etc? Can anyone spot any potential problems with the above 3? And does any one of the 3 stand out as being better quality than the other 2?
