  • Looking for stance mat ideas

I'm planning to build a 6'x4' stance mat that will have room for a CCE hitting strip and a Skytrak

I'm just looking for suggestions to build up the height to be equal to the CCE strip.

I originally went this route in an attempt to save some money. I was basing it off of post #14 here.
I'm in the process of getting started and trying to save money where I can. I have decided on RealFeel CCE for a hitting strip (10x36") but here's my

I used a sheet of plywood for the base, rigid foam insulation and carpet padding on top of that. The foam and carpet padding had a cutout for the CCE strip and I screwed the strip down to the plywood. Then I put carpet over the padding to match the room to try and make it blend in. I would NOT recommend doing this though. After a while, the rigid foam got depressions from where my feet stand. If you do something similar, I would try a different material under where your feet will be. Maybe some of those interlocking foam tiles for exercise rooms? I was trying to save weight because a solid wood stance platform would weigh a few hundred pounds. I guess if you are never going to move it that isn't an issue.

I just recently went a different route and did the "DIY Real Feel mat" (you can search for it here). It didn't cost that much more and I find it easier on my elbow than the CCE strip because it doesn't grab the club as much. You can buy a 4x5 mat and then get a small piece to put the Skytrak on.

I picked up the CCE strip because I've had an elbow issue and thought that might be the best route. Hmmm

But I like the idea of the rubber exercise grids under carpet padding, that might be the way to go.

I just completed a new setup that I am quite pleased with. I set up a holder for my skytrak on a 2X6 and angled the Sktrak unit so that is perfectly aligned when the side of the 2X6 is flush with the mat. I was originally using it right against a CCE mat but did not like the resistance of the surface and added DivotAction inserts. I went with all 3 12X18 inserts, fairway, combination rough, and sand and constructed a wooden enclosure to hold them along the 5 foot side of my 4X5 mat. The DivotAction inserts are much easier on the wrists and elbows than the CCE mat and sand is surprisingly realistic, I have discovered that the skytrak unit can not see the ball on a tan mat and will have to dye it green. My pictures were too big to upload but here is a link https://goo.gl/photos/pW9FDowbVAXro6Ds6
As you can see I set this up in my all glass sunroom. It works amazingly well with qolf almost golf balls and a portable 6 ft net. A side benefit is that I can move the net closer for my 60 wedge. I can also take the whole thing down and move if out of the room in 10 minutes! I used a gorilla grip felt pad under the whole setup and it doesn't move at all on a smooth floor.

Mat setup looks really nice. With my miss, the sometimes dreaded shank, i would send one right into the kitchen for sure.

I have cce strip. It's excellent but it does grab. If I'm hitting for long periods it does cause me some elbow tenderness and I've never had any elbow issues before.

this is the one I purchased and if there is a store or warehouse close to you drive over and ask about there remnants I was able to get a 12x15 piece for 3.00 a square foot as this retails for over 6 a square foot.

I have a CCE strip. I now have golfers elbow. I'm not sure if the strip added enough resistance to cause it or me just hitting more Golf balls than I have in my entire life and being in my 40s now. Probably all of the above. I'm just putting now! This sucks.

i have had tennis elbow for 3 months with no sign of healing i cant even pick up a cup of coffee with out cringing, there are two different braces i wear when i golf and yes the doctor told me not to even swing until this heals but he said could take up to 1 year to fully heal, so F that, i endure through it everyday somedays it good some days i can not swing in a correct path as it hurts, but it is healing and strength is starting to return, my secret is ice, heat, brace, advil.. but for the last two weeks no brace has been needed and my club path is almost back to normal.

Tennis elbow is way better now that I went to the gel insert from the cce. May want to give that a shot

I've already said this but I got a bad case of golfer's elbow from using the CCE mat. It has nearly healed from using the Divot-Action mat and the Theraband Flexbar. The latter will help with the healing of both golfer's elbow and tennis elbow:

I use the 5x10 CCE mat and love it, I think it closely matches the firmness of fairways here in Southern California.
