Divotaction and gc2

As my house is being built, I'm trying to prep for the sim. I am planning on the gc2. I am planning on getting the divotaction insert. Any reason to get the 24 inch long insert vs the 18 inch insert?
what happens as far as simulation if the ball is hit fat? Do u have to hit irons, etc in the middle of the divotaction insert? They sell to lengths so just trying to figure out why.

RIch here's a pic of my cce mat 12x24 and I cut the same measurement on my regular mat and as you can see it fit like a glove.. what I did to secure the mat to the floor was I bought 2 inch commercial grade velcro and made a perimeter on the floor the I put a perimeter around the mat sticks to the floor awesome. I went to home Depot and laid down artifical turf to cover my whole sim area first.. Then put the velcro on top of the artifical turf. The mat doesnt move at all. And the insert is in place and never move's either. Try going to your local golf couse see it they have a used mat they want to part with or contact par2pro and just buy a 4x4 mat and have them cut a 1x2 rectangle. Costco also sells the cce mat in full sizes... They always have a good prices.. now if you already bought the mat and divot action insert from John then wait till the divot action wears out then just get the cce insert and drop it in but make sure you get some artifical turf to make your sim room look nice then use the velcro like I stated above. They seel the cce inserts on ebay.

For those of you that bought the DivotAction, I really think that must be the way to go for long term usage. I bought the CCE (which is great for fat-shot feedback) and only after a month and about 1,000 swings later both of my elbows hurt and it must be some sort of tennis(golf) elbow I'm sure. My sim is in a garage on concrete floors so I'm sure that's not helping either. What I'd like todo is keep using the CCE but also have the flex action of the DivotAction. I'm thinking since I've already made the investment in CCE I might as well try to make it work. Had I known about the DivotAction I may have bought that instead.

So, in order to make a DIY version of the DivotAction, I understand that it is really just turf on top of some fiberglass over a void. What I plan on doing is going to Home Depot and buying some fiberglass panels and then build some sort of frame to hold the CCE (on top), the fiberglass, and a plywood sheet for a spacer (with a void cutout).

The question I have is how much flex do I need - or how much weight (force) is needed to move it? Can somebody tell me approx how much force it takes to completely depress the insert? I suppose I can just experiment but I'm not sure I can get off-the-shelf fiberglass panels with different bending characteristics.

Mind you that I don't want to detract for what I'm sure is a great product (DivotAction), I just thought I'd go the DIY route first. If that fails, then I'll probably break down and buy the real deal next...

How much is the divot action insert??? Just curious. I love my cce and don't have any joint or elbow issue's. Its the most true to real grass. And I like it when I hit it thin or fat and see that the ball goes nowhere. Makes me a better ball striker... no cheating .. I flush more shots now than ever when I play for real...

I agree CCE is the best for not allowing fat shots.

Looks like you can get the DivotAction inserts for $125 for the 12 x 24 sizes.

I have a moderate to steep attack angle so I hit down on the ball a lot more with irons and that is what is causing the problems I think. If you hit flush (with little or no negative attack angle) then you'll probably not benefit from the DivotAction as much. If you don't usually take a divot on the course then the same is true, otherwise if you do (like me) then that is where the club has to go below the surface and where something like the DivotAction makes a lot more sense.

I see your point. I take divots too when in play but typically with shorter clubs and wedges. The cce to me does have enough give and the feedback is really good.. I had a divot action but it was 3 years ago. It didn't last but a few weeks before it started to rip and tear. They are probably better made now than before. That cce insert in my above post with the picture cost me only 40 bucks.. good luck with the divot action. Let me know know how it holds up. 125 is a bit steep compared to 40 for the cce, but if it's better made than before and last longer.... I may consider it in the future..
