  • Calling out to true strike gc2 users

Looking at getting a true strike mat and thinking about either the single golf mat with balltray or the academy model. Are three range mat sections enough to be able to hit driver from the gel pad with a rubber tee?
Wich did you get and why?

Why don't you look at the Fiberbuilt? Just wondering. I heard that the truestrike can make a hell of a mess with the gel

What i've read is that the true strike is the best for giving correct launch and spin. This is very important to me.

I like my true strike. I have the single version with 3 range mats and the gel mat. the biggest issue I have currently is getting a good setup with the gc2 device is kind of a pain -- that and I have to have the balltray behind me instead of in front of me...anyone have any pics of what they are doign wtih the gc2 and truestrike?

Does three range mat sections allow you to hit driver from the gel section? Could you not do a custom par2pro type of plate that goes on the balltray? Or can you not connect balltray to the gel section?

I was sent some information about ball spin studies completed by Fiberbuilt when I purchased their mat. It seemed like the Fiberbuilt mat had almost identical results on a trackman when comparing to grass. Club Speed, Ball Speed, Smash Factor, Launch Angle and Spin Rate were tested.

Depending on your location, I just thought I'd let you know my findings. I was looking at the True Strike was well and they were almost double the $ of what they wanted at Fiberbuilt

That is interesting. Do you have that information to share?

I'm thinking of getting the single model myself and just move the outside range insert to the back side. I'm assuming that's how that works, giving you the depth to stand with driver on the gel section. The dimensions show 52" x 77", so should be plenty spacious enough for driver off the gel. But that's only if you reposition that range insert that's between the gel and ball tray. I may ask for a piece of trim instead of the ball tray to accommodate Skytrak placement. I use a ball dispenser, so the tray really isn't need for me. I'm guessing the gel is firm enough to support a tee on top of it right? I use the tomahawk tees that they use on the golf channel.

I have two Fiberbuilt inserts. While they're great for hitting irons off of, it's near impossible to putt well off of them for sim play. Which is definitely a deciding factor for me. The Truestrike site claims durability of 150,000 shots on their gel which I find doubtful, but should be plenty durable enough for my use.

I just got the academy model. But i think the single one would have worked fine.I use a tomahawk tee and no problems there. One thing i'm working on is to get a piece of mat to cover the front end of the hitting strip. There is a plastic plate there wich interferes with putting. Easy enough to do, but thought you should know.

Fiberbuilt looks really interesting, but the options are really confusing. I like the idea of still being able to place a tee in the mat, so it looks like the "Performance turf" is what I want, and I see 5' x 5' Performance Mat with Traditional Rubber Foundation

Do I need the rubber foundation though? Is this mat just going to be similar to the CCE? So many options to pick from, but I'm either going CCE or something like this I think.

OR, the "4 x 5 Single Side Performance Mat" that comes with the performance turf as the stance, and the fiberbuilt turf for hitting. Which looks great.

But how is putting from this type of surface?
