How much are you looking to spend on a projector? i have an optoma 1080st and i was worried about brightness as well. i bought it on amazon. So far has worked very well. I have black side curtains and it is plenty bright enough. i didnt want the projector behind me due to a shadow. i am setup 13 feet from my screen and my projector is roughly 7 feet away. I have a 120x108 screen. judging by your picture you have a 10' ceiling. Mine is 10 ft as well as well. you need to consider the offset of the projector as well. that is why i ended up going with ceiling mount instead of floor mount.

Thanks for the comments... I've purchased an epson power-lite 4650 from bestbuy. It wasn't cheap, but at 14' it will light it up at 60 lumens. The lights by the screen are on a separate switch... I have them there for when I practice putting. I'm installing a putting green in front and to the side of the hitting area. Going to have fairway grass border the green and cut in a 5' x 5' CCE hitting mat. Great idea on the dimmer. Might put one on both sets of lights.

Just about finished with the club rack... the shelves on both sides will make a great area for trophies 😀.

Build a box on the ceiling with an open front and back. Use the box in place of a ceiling projector mount. This should provide all of the protection you need.

Thanks TL. I'm going to play around with the location this weekend. Probably will not mount it until Monday. With this projector, I think I need to be at least 13' back. The closest location gives me 70 lumens and projects 10' wide 4:3 image. I will consider the box idea.

Projector mounted.... sorry, no lefties allowed. Hope this will work. Is it ok for the top to be skinnier? Doing it this way allows for the biggest image. Not sure how FSX will look on this shaped image.

I think I would prefer a slightly smaller square image. It doesn't seem like you would lose much screen real estate.
            Working...
