  • Projector Placement

I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question. So Ive decided to take the plunge and set up a garage simulator. I have a question about projector placement. Based on my ceiling height a ceiling mounted projector doesn't seem to be in the cards. Now putting the projector on the floor, is it possible to have it not set in the center and adjust the picture? Ideally, I'd have the ball teed up center of the screen, then the skytrak, then the projector next to the skytrak. This would mean the projector is not sitting dead center of the screen. I am unfamiliar with projectors. Are there settings that will allow me to adjust the picture to display correctly even though the unit is set up offcenter?

If so, what projectors have these settings and which would you recommend?

    Thanks

This was original setup. 9’4” ceiling. Ball was below projector. I later moved the hitting area to the right to give my driver more room because of the post behind the hitter which put the hitter below the projector. Never had an issue.

Epson home cinema 1060 has horizontal 30 degree keystone correction. This will allow your projector sitting at 3-4 feet (maybe more depends on how far back your projector is from the screen) off center.

Sometimes it is worth to check used sites as there could be some good finds. Take this as an example,

While good due diligence is needed when buying from a site like this, this projector has an asking price of $cdn800. This projector has excellent reviews and is bright and most importantly has lens shift and great zoom capability. If it is a 16:9 image thatone is looking for, this could be a good deal of a good negotiated price can be reached. I just found this in a quick search and who knows what else might be out there. I did not run this through the screen calculator, but I recall some old reviews noting this one as brighter than its specs.

For those on a budget, I do hope this helps.
