  • GT1080 mounting question

Planning out sim build for my garage and this forum has been a great source and reference for research on options for a projector
Planned screen size would be 10x10 with ceiling height of 11 feet - no room unfortunately go wider
planning on hitting area being 9-10 feet away from the screen
projector central calculator seems to be saying 6' 8" throw to fill width (120") screen for the gt1080, if I am doing it correctly
at that distance I am a little nervous about wedges or driver pop ups maybe hitting the projector?
in the review for the projector on the PC site it mentions digital zoom can reduce image size by 20 percent
if yes, would that then mean I can move the projector back by 20 percent as well - to about 8'?
if I did this, would it be a noticeable different in picture quality?

i guess the other option would be to move the hitting area closer to the screen as well
thanks for any advice or input on this

I use a Ben q 1085st. It's mounted directly overhead (9') from screen safe from back & follow through swings. It will project whatever your gt1080 will support (everything). Think it's optical zoom so no loss in quality like digital zoom. Very happy with it and found on eBay. I've heard optima short throws are great also among others. Mount it over your head. Hitting too close to screen will wear it out prematurely. Threads on here about it.
