  • Short Throw Projector when screen is nearly flush to the floor and ceiling?

My simulator is going to be 10'8"' (128") wide and 9' 1" (109") tall.

However my ceiling is only 5 1/2" higher than where my screen will start.

I would like to fill my entire screen (as much as possible) with a picture.

Can anyone recommend a projector that would work for me?

Optima GT1080 can fill the space but according to projector central it needs to be 15" higher than the top of the screen. I would need to mount it at 7'1" from the screen.

The other popular projector around here is the BenQ HT2150ST - for this projector I only need to be 2" higher than the top of the screen. But I would need to mount it 10'9" from the screen. Would I then start to be creating a shadow of myself as I stand over my ball?

I know there are other settings like zoom, key stone, etc.

Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction to finding the right projector? I would prefer the projector be mounted almost directly above where I hit the ball - this way there is little chance of it getting hit and no shadows on the screen.

    Thanks everyone!

The optoma does have a large image offset, probably not going to be your best option.

I have similar dimensions as you and have the BenQ. It is slightly behind me, but I have no shadows at all when hitting. I have very little risk of hitting it.

BWJones what are your screen dimensions and ceiling height? How far away do you hit from your screen? I was just conteplating this issue myself. I have everything planned around a 12x9 screen with a 9.5' ceiling but punching the numbers into projector central I thought the benq would be too far back for shadows. My hitting mat would be at 9' and the projector would have to be at 13' IIRC (I'm on my phone and can't double check the website).

I am using a 10 x 9 screen with 9 foot ceilings. I am hitting from a little short of 9 feet from the screen. I am running my projector resolution in 1280 x 1024 mode chosen when you first start TGC. I have very little pixilation and am filling all but about 6-8 inches at the top of my screen. You might consider purchasing the projector first and experimenting with sheets or tarps to check on shadows, image resolution, etc. before you purchase the screen. I would have loved to be wider, but I simply do not have the space. I am extremely happy with my current setup considering my space limitations.
