I just built the screen enclosure and don't know if I should mount my projector from the ceiling or the floor. The projector is a viewsonic pjd5353ls short throw. The simulator is being built in the garage with 10' walls with vaulted ceiling and I have a lot of large windows, so a lot of light. I can cover the windows but was thinking if I place it on the floor I think it is to be just shy of 5' and the sides of the simulator are going to be 5'6" or so from the screen which is 10' wide and 8' tall. I am thinking it that it would be much brighter if I mount it on the floor. Am I on the right track?

Depending on the ceiling height I've found personally the floor works better. I have mine about 4 metres back and 1 metre off centre and with some minor adjustments I get no shadows whatsoever -
The only issue I see with it is the floor is going to be hinged and moved up and down with a winch but with proper planning it should work well.Comment

Im still debating this viewsonic or an optoma gt760a. Can't decide. Hoping you would help with that lol. Projector and pc are my only 2 hangups on finishing my SIM. I did go with a roll up impact net from the sports screen and everything should be here Tuesday! I'll spend all evening setting it up. What size of screen you going with? Do you have any pics of that projector in action?Comment

We watched a movie on it last night and that was the first we have used it. I bought my projector used but the picture looked good. I built around a 10' wide screen and it ended up being 9'6" wide and about 8' tall. For movies I am going to build a screen on a frame with standard projector material that we will hang in front of the simulator so the screen in tight. I am hoping to have the skytrak working today. I will let you know.Comment
