DIY projector box?

Hi guys I've searched this forum all over and can't find anywhere if someone has built their own projector floor box? Like say a homemade version of a terrashield or something similar? I just don't see shelling out another 3 to 400 bux on something I could build for way less. So if you have any pics on a DIY please share them!

Well here is my homemade projector box. Sorry some of the pics uploaded sideways. I have under 50 bux into this box and about 3 to 4 hours of time into it.

If you don't mind, can you share a sketch on the dimensions of your box and a build drawing? I'm thinking of placing my projector on the floor instead of mounting it to the ceiling. Looks easier to do.

Hi meat miller, do you have plans for this? I have a optoma gt1080 and would like to make something like this, did you use plexiglass or lexan for the front screen, and what drill bit did you use?

Very cool! I have an older Promethian projector that has taken a few hits...I've covered it with some artificial turf and prayed it would survive...it was an ebay purchase and a great price, but I do need to protect it. Currently I am using a Spornia return net and have the projector under the netting on the base. it works well for a portable Optishot game or practice and puts up and takes down in less than 5 minutes. I can send pics if people are interested.

I agree. I'm a CAD drafter so having a footprint to start always helps. Can you tell me what you used for the enclosure fans and how they receive their power?

Fans are easy. I used these https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IJ...f=yo_pop_mb_pd and you just power them from the back of your projector or an ac adaptor.

I'm cutting one out on my cnc machine. Probably just as easy to do by hand, but I wanted to practice designing (and I suck at cutting straight). I can post the files when I am done if anyone is interested.

I ordered these but I can't power them through my gt1080. Can you power through your projector?

With the right adaptor you could or you could just use a usb wall charging plug to power them. But most projectors have some sort of usb port on them.
