  • DIY projector box?

Hi guys I've searched this forum all over and can't find anywhere if someone has built their own projector floor box? Like say a homemade version of a terrashield or something similar? I just don't see shelling out another 3 to 400 bux on something I could build for way less. So if you have any pics on a DIY please share them!

    Thanks, JM

I'm more curious as to what happens when a ball is shanked into this box or how you putt with this in the way?

There is an option on my projector to turn on power to the usb ports. All good now!

I may get the laser cutter fired up and design something... I think ill make a bottom to it though. 250$ for the store bought one isnt bad, considering time etc.

I use carpet tiles on my box. They work great. I have hit it a few times. They have a solid rubber backing that is indestructible.

Meatmiller Hello! I am currently in the process of finishing up my garage Golf simulator build. I loved the Projector box cover you constructed. Would you by any chance happen to have the dimensions and of it so that make my own? Any information you can provide would greatly be appreciated ! thanks!

@here So I am currently just wrapping up by Garage build. However, I am using foam balls right now. (Afraid to use real balls due to the location of the projector at the time) lol. So I am wanting to construct one a box for it. Any help with dimensions of the box pictured above from anyone who has put together something similar would greatly be appreciated. (I have already ordered the fans from Amazon and plan to go to Homedepot over the weekend to buy the wood in order to put this together. (Wish me luck) lol

How thick is the plexiglass that you used here? I am going to start making mine today - agree that $300 for a box is insane. Looks great BTW!

That looks great! Very similar to what I'm doing. What screen do you have?

I am in the process of making a DIY kit. Similar to an Ikea flat pack. It will include the pre-cut wood with hols for cooling fans. You would supply the fans and the carpet to cover. Hope to have pics today. Similar to the fantastic build above by Meatmiller but with thinner plywood. I have built one for myself and It has taken several hits with no issue.

Homer, by any chance, do you have pictures and dimensions of your projector box? I just went to home depot and realized I can't just wing it, lol

WallysW0rld I unfortunately do not have any photos, I ended up taking measurements of my projector to determine the size of it. Due to the dimensions of different projectors may vary I would recommend to go based off your particular project dimensions for the build.

My projector is a BenQ817 ST. My case is 6 inches high 17 inches wide. and 24 inches long. On the long end it is split at 12 inches 12 for a flat top and 12 sloping.
