With yours mounted directly above you, how do you find the shadow situation?
Mine is mounted 8 feet 6 inches above my head but my swing path is no where near the projector (the arc of the swing is at the bottom under the projector). It takes a little getting used to the projector there but after about 20 swings it was like it was not even there. I will take a picture of my set up and post it if you want.

As for the shadows, with my projector mounted above my head I have no shadows while playing, the only time I cast a shadow is if I have to go retrieve a ball in front of the screen.

Thank you so much! Very helpful, great setup!

I'll be posting pics of my setup once it's finished. Going with the EH200ST off Amazon today. Fingers crossed it all works out well!

Gents, sorry to jump in here but hoping you can help; i have read the forum, looked at the calculators and still not really getting this part of the sim world. I have a 12 x 8ft 10 space for a screen. I am currently hitting the ball at 7ft away into a net and using a 42inch tv on the wall. I am in my garage so the ceiling above me is 14ft high. i am in the centre of the screen, looking to understand a few options I know the optima and benq are the most popular. If I was to pick one of those up what is the approx distance I would need to mount it and at what height? Is it possible to mount it 11-13ft high so i have no issues with hitting it if its not right above my head? Thank you in advance the forum has been instrumental in me setting up my garage build. Apologies for any stupid questions there is just so much information to ingest!

My $.02, I did a tremendous amount of research to find the best projector and setup to fill the entire screen, find something that works best in terms of placement away from the swing and if it fills the entire screen great, if not you'll still get a great experience. My screen is ~11x9 and I had a old Sony projector projecting in 4:3 from ~12' away and the image is about 1.5' off the ground which isn't a big deal at all.

My concern was shadows and I have none, I hit from 9' and I'm 6'4", ceiling is 9'6", projector is mounted down 10" and it's not even close to being in the swing path.

Ok, so I have been chatting to a company and they tell me that I should get a 4:3 ratio projector to fill my screen (approx 12x9). He says that if I go with an HD projector 16.9 that i would only get 6ft 9 inch height . Is that to do with the ratio or the distance from the screen i.e. if i went further back the height would increase? I only intend to use this for my simulator but obviously want to get the best available picture. I have a 1060 card and will be getting the par2pro screen; should I be looking at the 4:3 ratio projectors if that is my goal or is there a way to get the 16:9 ratio (higher resolution) to fit most of my screen, do people only get the HD if they are going to double the screen for movies, what is the highest resolution i can get with 4:3 if that is my best option? Sorry for all the newbie questions but I would like to buy the right projector the first time. As always thank you for your time and consideration.

You can force hd projector into 4:3 mode to fill it. That’s what I do

Most HD projectors have options to display a few different aspect ratios just make sure the projector you buy can do 4:3

Thanks guys, I understand; by forcing the ratio into 4.3 you are reducing the resolution? I guess what i am asking is do you only have an HD for the option to switch to movies or does the HD projector give you a better picture even in 4:3

I think how it works is, if the native resolution is 16:9 and you want 4:3 the unit blocks it out internally. So you can go to different resolutions this way but the picture on the screen would be smaller.. When you do this, you would have to then move the unit farther back to get the picture to fill the screen, that's how your resolution would suffer. I think some units come with a 16:10 res but I've found them to be a little more expensive.

I'll be sure to post some pictures of my setup once my screen comes in! The projector came in last week, just waiting on my screen from Par2Pro right now. Not overly impressed with them thus far as I ordered March 3rd and still don't have it... Was assured 2-3 weeks and here we are over a month. They didn't ship it until last Friday and now it's still in customs...

Angle iron is up and ready, just need the damn screen!
