  • Projector Mount Help

I am getting ready to mount my projector and had a question.

I used the calculator on Projector Central and came up with the attached specs. The vertical offset is what I am wondering about. Do I want the lens 17" above or below the top of my screen?

The top of the image will start 17" below the center of the lens.

Can you just point the projector down a little as opposed to mounting it lower ?? Will that create an issue with keystone?

So I need to raise the ceiling in that area. I have a 9' tall screen and 10' tall ceiling.

Yes, or your image will start below the top of the screen. Most people don't go right up to the top of the screen, they usually have some black trim across top and sides.

If he wants the image to be a little higher, can't you just angle the projector up a little (vice verse for lower). Seems easier than raising the ceiling.

Yes you can but then you need to keystone to square up the image which will probably lead to a slightly blurry corner(s) especially on the Optoma Darbee. It's not a big issue for most, I would put up with it rather than raise the ceiling.

It's going in a garage with an unfinished ceiling. So raising it won't be hard at all.

With a lower ceiling the Benq is probably a better option since it has less image offset. I have the optoma but i have a pretty tall ceiling and I liked that it got it higher away from everything.

        I think it's the 1085ST
