BenQ MW632ST, I can switch between 4:3, 16:9, 16:10 or "Auto" (whatever that is) , without moving it or refocusing it.

it the only projector I've ever had so I can't speak for others.

I probably should have added: whilst filling the screen to the maximum in both cases.

All of them can switch, but you need to ask is what size is the image when doing so?

Is there a projector that keeps the same width when changing?

I don't think so...put a 1080p 16:9 projector on 4:3 and all you are doing is cutting out horizontal pixels on each side. You are asking to change the horizontal width of each pixel to keep the same width of picture. It would be nice to be able to dial in the vertical height of each pixel so as to keep the width of 1080p but increase the height of the picture.
