  • Projector Cold Garage

Wondering if the Canadians/Northern folks with extreme cold climates can chime in. I set-up my garage sim about a month ago and all is great; however, i am already looking at heating options for when winter arrives. I live in Edmonton and the winter temps can get down to -40. I have a finished garage that is insulated (bedroom above) and wondering if you leave your projector permanently mounted (optima 1080 darbee) and if you have had any issues with the cold weather. Secondly, what do you use for heating options, seen lots of deals on right now so hoping to get something installed shortly. - (standard 2 car garage - 12ft ceilings). As always, thank you for the feedback!

I'd personally go with a thermostat controlled natural gas heater, they are reliable and work well, they will keep your garage at a set temperature. Generally pretty efficient and are fairly good value for price. I'm in Edmonton as well and have seen many garages here that use this option.

I'm planning to use a 12,000 BTU split AC/Heat pump (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DVW6G06...v_ov_lig_dp_it). My garage is 19' by 13.5' with a vaulted ceiling that goes up to 12 feet.

In MN and get temps that cold too. I have a natural gas heater controlled by thermostat that I turn on when I want to play. Works great, but takes a while to heat up sometimes. Having the room above should help keep yours a lot more insulated. I never take down my projector (benq) and have not had a single problem.
