Plz confirm my projector measurements... THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I am getting very, very close to FINALLY pulling the trigger on a projector. My god what a learning curve projectors. I feel like I just graduated engineering school!

Before I buy my projector I was hoping you smart/experienced projector guys could confirm I am thinking correctly here:

See my previous post for uber detail on my sim room set up (if you dare):
As always, 1st & foremost.... thank you all for your input in advance. Really appreciate it! I will try to summarize where I am with the build out. What I

If you want the condensed version here is what I think it boils down to:
    1) I have learned that I think I want a 16:9 aspect ratio
    2) I have learned that I think I want a 1920 x 1080 native resolution since this is most likely fine for golf sims and watching movies/tv/sports
    3) The wall my screen is on is 16'5" wide x 8'9" high (or 197" x 105")
    4) If I am correct it appears that my ceiling ht is my limiting factor so to maintain a 16:9 aspect ratio:
    A) I am going to base my height on 104" to allow for future 1" carpeting
    B) Using 104" as my height... that makes my width 185" with a resulting 212" diagonal (I used this online calculator http://screen-size.info/ )
    C) This seems like it will work out near perfectly after I build out the sides for the impact screen it should come in right around 185"
    5) If those numbers are correct I calculated my Throw Ratio using throw distance of 9' (108") to 11' (132") as 0.58 to 0.71

If all that is correct I am strongly considering the BenQ HT2150ST. The throw ratio is 0.69 to 0.83 so it appears that I will just sneak in if I mount the projector at about 10' 5" from my impact screen. Here's the BenQ HT2150ST:

I would more than welcome any and all input to what I have described in this post. I have put in an obnoxious amount of time and research and would hate to have missed something or honestly anything at this point.

    Thanks to everyone in advance!!!!

here is a link to BenQ Projector calculator and a file with a 207" diagonal. I don't think the ceiling height allows you to mount the projector to give you a 210" diagonal. I did not read all your specs, but make sure you consider how you are attaching your screen to whatever. If you have the projector test it out on the wall before you order the screen. good luck, I am sure there are more knowledgeable members of the forum who will chime in.

JiminSc Thanks a lot for sharing the layout tool that BenQ has on their website... I was not aware of it.

I put in all the numbers from my sim layout and I have attached it to this post. I am certainly learning as I go here but it looks like if I mount the projector to the ceiling I should be able to mount it a little over 10' 5" away from the impact screen to get the correct 16:9 aspect ratio. If anyone disagrees with my understanding please let me know. Thank you!

I was looking at this PJ too, and it ticks all the boxes, but not sure it will be bright enough? Any real world users here shooting a 185” wide! or similar screen?

See specs below- only shows 8fl- which is pretty low I believe.

8fL does seem like a very low number. The buyer guide on ProjectorCentral.com states:

"In a dark room, a luminance level on the screen in the range of 12 to 22 fL is in the ideal comfort range"... "If you don't want to set up a dark home theater and would rather have some low ambient light, you may prefer to get the screen luminance up into the range of 20 to 40 fL. A brighter picture will help compensate for the loss of contrast caused by ambient light."

Hope that is not a deal breaker but that seems like it could be.... anyone have an opinion on that?

shellman19 You have a good width for a screen and projector. My setup is 15 ft wide. See my post details at in post: https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...mike80-is-back

For your setup I would recommend a 16:10 format. This will give you more height and the width. That is how mine is setup. You can guess all you want about where to mount your projector. I moved mine 3 times before I got it perfect. Best advice is get the BenQ HT2150ST. Mount your screen. Then power your projector and manually move your projector in different places until you are happy with the correct width/height. Then you know where to permanently mount your projector. Good luck with your sim build! Post pics when done!

Mike80 Just took a look at your sim set up. Looks really nice man! I tried to zoom in to see what projector you are using but could not make it out. Can you please let me know which you have and why you selected that specific projector with all the options that are out there. Thanks!

shellman19 I have the BenQ HT1085ST projector. It is mounted 10 ft high and 10 ft from screen. This projector is a couple years old. Looks like the new model that replaced this one is the BenQ HT2150ST. This one is on Amazon at: https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-HT2150ST...dp_ob_title_ce

These both have short throw ratio at .69 - .83. These will throw a very large screen at a shorter distance than other short throw projectors.
            Working...
