  • Calibrating Color Profile for Projector

Anyone know a cheap or dirty way to calibrate the color settings on a given projector? Is it worth my time?

My home theater projector is a high end JVC one that has the option of using a Datacolor Spyder computer monitor calibrator with it. You download a program and feed your pc video to it. You then put the spyder calibrator on your screen but pointing back towards the projector. It loops through a series of colors and then adjusts the settings on the projector. It’s all automated which was nice but honestly I didn’t notice too much difference. There may be a similar tool for your model projector.

Wow, thanks. I have a high-end projector but it's 2016 so let me take a look.

The Datacolor Spyder made a big difference on my 12 yr old sanyo but no real difference on my 5 yr old Epson 5030.

My Optomas seem to be self calibrating, but the menus do allow changes to colors' tints. The menu also provides presets...Cinema, Sports, Computer Games and such.
