  • Garage simulator build - need projector advice

Currently building a simulator in my garage and the only way I can make it happen is with a smallish screen setup. I am limited to an impact screen that is 7'wide x 9.5' high. I have 20' of depth and the width is actually much wider than 7', I just can't make the screen any larger due to a door.

i'm not concerned with the size of the screen for hitting, but am concerned with it for a projector. Based on the unique sizing, what projector would be recommended? Based on the square, do I need to run at 1:1 ratio? Anyone have any luck with some of the entry-level projectors on Amazon?

You should go to the following link to help with finding the projector that will best suite your needs. https://www.projectorcentral.com/projectors.cfm

You have your width at 7' (84 inches wide) which is the first thing you need to know. Next you need to know how far you plan on placing your projector from the screen. This will help you determine your needed "THROW RATIO" .

I think your asking about aspect ratio with your 1:1 ?? If so I don't know of a projector that exist that will do this aspect ratio, your largest aspect ratio is 4:3 which for 84 inches (7') will provide a picture that is 84" wide, 63" high with total screen of 105"

So figure out your mounting distance and determine which aspect ratio you want and that will help determine what is the best projector for your needs.
