I’ll be able to control all ambient light so it makes my decision pretty easy. Thanks you!

MattOriginally posted by Matt Dizel View PostSaw your multiple posts on picking a projector, lots of great info! I was going to pick up the in138hdst before reading your post about the blurriness. I don’t think the th671st you got would be an option for me. The screen is 16’ x 9’ and projector central says that may not be bright enough because it’d have to be mounted 11’-12’ from screen. Based on your first hand testing would you agree with that or do you think the brightness would be okay from that distance. Or would you accept the image of the in138hdst and be able to mount it closer (7-8’) with higher brightness? Really appreciate your posts, thanks!

Did you ever finish your setup? I too have the exact same issue. I will be building a sim with a 16' x 9' screen and the only concern I have regarding the BenQ is the projector central results regarding FL. After using the full zoom feature, projector lens will be mounted exactly 11' away from screen and the manufacturer's estimate is 21 FL (which is great) while PC's is only 7 FL. My room will have canned dimmable lights and then I will have a spotlight onto the hitting mat. I believe this should work from an ambient lighting perspective but curious to hear how it worked out for you. Shellman's pics look great and his screen is just a dash smaller than ours. I will also be using the direct from mill screen haha.

I haven’t completed the whole sim set up(need computer and decide on a launch monitor) but I do have the screen and projector up and running. Kids are using it for movies and video games currently. I did go with the Benq projector and have been very pleased. Its plenty bright and the zoom feature is awesome. I believe mine is mounted about 14 ft from screen and it gives me the 16x9 image.Originally posted by MSUGOGRN View Post

Thanks for that quick reply and great to hear it is plenty bright. I called BenQ and they were skeptical but I think this helps get me over the ledge between what both of you guys have said in this thread. Really wanted to go with that new 4K Optoma 4K550ST but this may be a good projector to use until those come down in value a little bit.Originally posted by Matt Dizel View Post

Commenting on this old post.....did you go with the BQ? I am about to install the 16x9 stealth elite screen and have the same concerns as you about the brightness at the necessary distance....The most concerning stat is on the Ben website saying the max diagonal size is 120"??? I made a separate post about this. Do you know what that's about? What has been your experience and how far back/high etc did you go? thanks!

Yep...ended up with the BQ. Check out my entire build at the following link. I still would really love a killer 4k with 4k lumens but this definitely works great with just the spotlight turned on.
