  • TerraShield for ground projection

    Hi,

anyone using ground projection for their simulators? Moving to a new house and don't want to mess with the overhead projector as I am not very handy and also don't want to damage the ceiling. What are pros and cons of ground vs. overhead projecor?
    Thanks.

Watching this as well, looking at the exact same thing for mine.

If you have the ball centered for your screen than your projector will be directly in front of the ball when you're hitting. I can see how this could be a bit distracting or cause you to swing a little nervously (even if it's encased and well-protected; still that fear of skulling one into it or even hitting it with the club). If your ball position is off-center than you will be hitting to the side of it and have less worry.

I think as long as you are off-center and the projector is well-protected I don't see much issue with it on the ground. Balls bouncing off the screen and back into the projector remain a risk though, especially considering that good projectors are not cheap.

If you have the ceiling space to spare, you can elevate your mat a few inches and make it more or less even with the top of the projector (or even higher than it) to mitigate the effect of having it right in front of you while you're hitting.

I just bought a ceiling mount off Amazon for like 13 bucks and plan to ceiling mount mine as soon as I find the time. I am also not the most handy person but it doesn't seem too complicated.
