Vertical Offset clarification

Can someone clarify vertical offset for me. In planning out my sim build. Looking to go with a direct from the mill screen. I plan on hanging it as close to the ceiling as possible. Hight is 109.5" just over 9'. I checked projector central site and using benq and optoma models i get either a -2" or a -14" vertical offset number. So my question is does this mean once the projector is mounted to the ceiling the top of the image will start either 2 or 14 inches lower than the projector? I plan on going 4:3 because my space is 10' wide by 9' high. I want to mount the projector right to the ceiling for more clearance.

That's it exactly. I have the Optoma and the image starts quite a bit below the projector. For me it was better since i can get the projector higher away from the golfer and i use it in my garage so ceiling height wasn't an issue.
