Throw Distance Problem

I was hoping that someone might be able to give me some insight on a new projector setup. Here are the details:

Optoma WU515TST Projector - 16:10.
Screen is a Carls', 16x10 (actual dimensions are 188"x118".
Projectorcentral shows that the distance from the front center of the lens should be 12'5" from the screen. I started there with precise measurements and the image was much smaller than the screen. I am now 13'6" away from the screen and it still does not fully fill it.

Am I missing something on setup? I cannot figure out why it is so far off the specifications at projectorcentral.

I have the overhead Uneekor system and cannot move the projector back any further without having to redo the entire system. Also, I believe that if the projector was behind the sensor, it would interfere with the light beam due to the -1" vertical offset for this projector (which is one reason I bought it).

My only guess is that maybe the projector is set on 16:9? It should be able to project 16:10, 16:9 and 4:3 so maybe it's just set on 16:9 and not 16:10?

Gotta be the ratio. That unit does not have a zoom on the lens.

Check your resolution settings in Windows, for the projector and in the game. Also it does show n the users manual that it has a zoom of -5~25.

Thank you all for your responses. I feel as if I must be missing something. I have the resolution set to 1920x1200 in Nvidia and Windows. The projector is set to native. I can get the image on the screen to project wider, but the height stretches above and below the projected image. It is like there are black bars horizontally on the top and the bottom. I have to shift the image up to see the Windows bar at the bottom of the screen or shift it down to see the top of the desktop. Hope this makes sense...

Here are a couple of pictures to explain. I think I have the settings correct, but the image does not fill the screen or stretches beyond the projected size. If anyone has any thoughts, I'd appreciate it.

I have the EH515TST and the distance was pretty much spot on. My Sim is not at my house, so I can't check right now, but I believe there is a zoom feature that I used to make it fit my screen (Carl's Premium - 14' wide). Under Setup - Screen Type, make sure you are at 16:10 and not WXGA or WUXGA.

I am using an Optoma EH412. It is located 15.5' from the screen and 8.5' from the floor. It's lens is only 1" aft of the QED sensor chassis, with no ill effects. This model projector has a large zoom range and may be applicable in your situation. I am also using the Carl's 16:9, 5' deep enclosure and the screen is completely filled and my 6'3" frame casts no shadow onto the screen. It also has 4500 lumens, which is helpful at that distance.

Thanks again, everyone for your help. I called Optoma customer service today and it was determined that the projector is defective or may have the incorrect lens. Now to wait for a replacement...frustrating!

I have this projector and it works great, did you by chance play with keystone adjustment? I did notice applying keystone tweaks makes the image significantly smaller. I worked on trying to get projector lens close to center of screen (not quite possible) then using the horizontal shift and vertical to get image centered then applied a little keystone and then finally moved projector closer to screen by a few inches. Now I have the screen filled and the imaged is perfectly square. I cant see how it has the wrong lens because as far as i am aware this model does not have interchangeable lens?

PS. You could probably check the lens by seeing how much horizontal and vertical shift you could apply as I think this model has the greatest H and V lens shift of the optoma models (why I bought it.)
