Question on placement

So I've got an Optoma GT1080 Darbee coming to me that I plan to hang from the ceiling. My enclosure is 9'x9' and I'm hitting from 10' center of screen. The enclosure screen is 17" from ceiling.

my question - projector central says at 1:1 throw I need to be 8' from screen and says the vertical offset is -17"....so being my screen is already 17" from ceiling would that be 34" total I need to hang from ceiling? Or can I adjust the throw and leave it higher?? Also, if I place it dead middle of screen (basically in line with the ball) 8' out will that be a safe spot if we are hitting from 10' out?

That means the top of the image is going to start 17” below the center of the lens. When you take into account mounting to the ceiling the image will probably start around 22 or so inches from the ceiling.

It will be fine mounting it along the centerline of your target. May want to put up some type of protection in case of a skied driver shot. You can use a wire basket or something similar for cheap protection

So if I mount to the ceiling and it starts around 22" is that what the vertical offset is for? So I can adjust it back up to 17" where my screen starts.

No it's a fixed dimension based upon distance from the screen. You cannot adjust it.

What size is the image you are trying to achieve? Width and height
How tall is your ceiling?

You say your enclosure is 9'x9' so I am going to guess that your viewing size is about 8' wide. Based on that the image will be 96" wide by 72" high in 4:3 mode. The top of the image will start 12" below the center of the lens. When you mount the projector to the ceiling, the center of the lens will be roughly 5" below the ceiling, give or take. So the top of your image is going to start 17" below the ceiling.

With the numbers you mention above about being 8' from the screen and 17" offset, your image would be 145" (12'1") wide and 109" (9'1") high in 4:3 mode. This exceeds your enclosure size so something doesn't add up.

my question is my height of the screen is 17" from ceiling and its saying the vertical offset is -17". So do I have to hang it -34" from ceiling or is there some type of vertical correction where if I hang it flush I can dial in a correction?

sorry if this is simple but I've never had a projector before.
