    Optoma GT1080 Darbee mounting

I’ll try and keep this simple. I am hitting from 12’ away from the screen. Projector has a fixed .49 throw. Calcs for a 4:3 ratio for my setup put the projector 43” in front of me (8’ 5” from the screen) and 18” down from the ceiling. That is concerning because that means a 66 degree shot would nail the projector. In a square room do you offset the projector or do you just suck it up and go with the recommendation for mounting or do you scoot the tee position up to 10’ from the screen?

I dont think the 18" down from the ceiling is correct. I believe it's stating that the top of the image will start 18" down from the center of the lens. Optoma has a very large offset. How wide of image are you trying to project?

Can’t you side project if Optoma has a large offset?

ID:	233082 You are right, the 18” wasn’t correct. That is the offset for the distance from the middle of the lens to the top of the image. I ended up holding the projector up and getting the biggest image I could on the screen. That ended up taking it back 3’ more towards the hitting area and makes the install a lot better.
