  • 1600 x 1200?

I bought an Optoma GT760 projector a while back in the Black Friday sales for my golf simulator.

My garage has a wall which allows me to put a 290 x 285cm screen - so almost square.
I was looking at the spec for my projector, and it says it has a maximum output of 1600 x 1200.
Can I simply set my computer to output at this resolution, and use the sim at it? Obviously I'd still get the same 4 x 3 aspect as a 1024 x 768 output - just with significantly more pixels.
I guess I have to stick with a 4 x 3 aspect in order to make the most of my screen shape. If I use 16 x 10 I'll lose a fair bit of height.

The GT760 has a fixed panel of 1280X720 pixels. Running it any higher than that is a waste on your CPU/GPU.

Thanks... Should I run at 1024 x 768 then? Just wondered why the manual / spec sheet claim it can output 1600 x 1200?

They can all do that. The 1600X1200 from the pc will get downsampled to fit its physical limitation of 1280X720. So, I would run it at 1280X720.

The native resolution is 1280 x 800 rather than 720...
          If I go with 1280 x 800, I get a 290cm x 181cm image.
          If I go with 1024 x 768, I get a 290cm x 218cm image.
As the zoom of the lens is fixed, I need to fix the projector to my ceiling at a specific distance (151cm for 1280 x 800 and 181cm for 1024 x 768) from the screen.
Should I just go with the 1280 x 800 and lose the extra 27cm of height projected on the screen? It means I'd have over 1m of white screen at the top!

did you post the correct model number? The specs says 1280X720. Either way, IMO, you should always try to use the native resolution. Don't get too caught up with the image size.

Thanks - I'll just stick with native then.
              Yeah, it's a GT760.
The manufacturer's website states native is 1280 X 800 - not that is makes a huge difference.
