  • Vertical projector height

Hey guys. I have a GT1080HDR and I’m having trouble getting it to fill my screen. According to projector central I need 6’1” for the throw distance. I’m wondering how important having the 13” vertical above the screen matters. Any input would be great. Thanks

That is probably referring to vertical offset which you cannot get around. The top of the image will start that far down from the center of the lens. What size image are you trying to fill and is it in 4:3 or 16:9

      I’m using the 4:3

Back it up further than your 6' 1" location, raise it higher than 13" adjust your vertical shift if you have it to square it off, or do both with blackout material on the top/sides of your screen to soak up a little bit of your wasted image?!?? Have you physically tried adjusting all of your manual/digital settings while standing in front of your screen yet?

So what is your visible screen size that you are trying to fill?

            I’m trying to get a 138” diagonal...

If you are trying for 138 diagonal at 4:3, then yes, your projector will be 6'1" away from the screen. If your image starts on the ground, then the center of the lens needs to be 95" off the ground. Your image will be 109" W x 82" H.

Is the image coming out with these dimensions when you have it placed the listed distance away from the screen? What problems are you having?

I am currently 6’1” away from the screen and I am 106” off the floor. It is giving me an image of 77” x 102”. Do you think lowering the projector will give it a larger image?

Lowering it will not give you a larger image. I wonder though, I dont think it has a manual zoom, but does it have a digital zoom by any chance? Might want to check that. Also have you made any keystone adjustments, maybe that has affected the image size. Worst case, you may have to move it a few more inches away from the screen. This is the problem with projector without the manual zoom. Precise location is key. I have the gt1080 but put it on a frame that I could slide it for this reason.
