Throw distance. I would really appreciate some advice. I purchased a viewsonic pjd5353ls projector a couple of years ago and am finally getting the simulator running. According to the company for my screen size (113"W X 96"H 148" diagonal) the distance the projector should be from the screen is 73" and 9" above. Looking at this it appears to me that it would get hit. I currently have it mounted about 90" back and 20" or so above the screen which seems to be pretty safe but the image size is off. Should I mount the projector on the floor? If I floor mount it I will have to place it on the floor each time we use it.

For this projector, using 4:3 ratio, your image will be 113"W x 85"H x 142" diagonal. The projector needs to be 5'9" (69") from the screen and the top of the image will start 11" down from the center of the lens. This is all according to projectorcentral.

I don't think that my projector has a side offset so it makes me a little nervous that someone taller will hit the projector.Are these distances average for short throws? The information on distance that I posted was from the manufacturer in the manual and I also talked to tech services. Is it better to have the unit ceiling mounted or floor mounted?Comment

Are you mounting the projector on your target line? If so, you should not be able to hit it with a club. If it mounts forward of your hitting area, you could hit it with a skied driver or very high launching flop shots. If you are mounting on your target line then ceiling is better since it should not be in the swing path. If you are hitting offset from the middle of the screen, then it may be better to have it on the floor as you would not putt over it or have a chance to skull one into it.Comment
